When we say … leadership, we must also say … followership

Abstract

Leadership does not occur if followership does not follow. Consequently, when we say . . . leadership, we must also say. . . followership, but why is it that we fixate on one and neglect the other? A possible reason why is the mere fact that leadership occurs first. However, as McKimm and O’Sullivan state and I concur, leadership is a process that is sustained and recognised only if followership also happens.
