Abstract
The present paper is aimed at the interpretation of Ivan Strpka’s poem Interlude. Puppets Shortened by a Head. The ambiguity of main pictures, the logics of the plot and the functions of intertext as well as peculiarities of its poetics are analysed. The theatricalization of the artistic world shows the crisis of totalitarian society, a “mental Armageddon” as well as an increase in contradictions in the very lyric subject at the same time. The social and politic meaning in the poem is directly related to philosophic content and metaliterature thoughts. The traditions of surrealism and dadaism are important to the author, and we can make a parallel with “neobaroque” of Elena Shvarts in contemporary Russian literature.
