Genetically modified organisms raise a lot of questions and controversy within an over-informed society. Globalization and bad business practices around these crops are causing their effects on society and the environment to be unpredictable. The socioeconomic context in which this technology is being developed is the reason that this promising scientific advance for humanity is becoming a purge of the most impoverished peasantry in this asphyxiating competitive free market.
