Abstract

The objective of this special issue is to discuss important dimensions of the politicization of intimate life. The texts presented here discuss and establish relationships between the concepts of domestic work, care work, and emotional labor. To highlight this important topic at the beginning of the millennium, Revista Seculo XXI has brought together in this issue articles that present and explore definitions of the concepts of care work, domestic work, and reproductive work. The contributions, from Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, Nursing, and Education, situate these debates in the contexts of empirical research, allowing us to better understand multiple realities. The articles indicate the global importance of these studies. They reveal the realities of several states in Brazil, and incorporate writings on Uruguay and Portugal
