Ten Years in Eleven Chapters

Abstract

Zhu Wenying was born in Shanghai in the 1970s. In this self-interview from early in her career, she writes eleven short essays to answer questions ranging from the meaning of literature to her inspirations and influences, love and music, the passage of time and its effect on her development as a writer and her writing. She also ruminates on what is writing and how to be a writer. This interview is a glimpse of a writer as a person. Originally published in Writer Magazine in 2008.
