Reformas para el manejo de las rentas de propios en Santafé de Bogotá, 1791-1809

Abstract

This article analyzes the reform process for the management of rentas de propios in Santafe between 1791 and 1808, a reform which sought to reduce the councils’ autonomy in the management of funds. It also describes the context in which the Junta de Propios was formed, the resistance of the council, the main reforms and their quantitative results, demonstrating the partial application of the system of intendancies in the viceregal capital of New Granada in relation to the municipal treasury
