Abstract

AbstractSUBLINGUAL ECTOPIC THYROIDEctopic sublingual thyroid is a rare congenital disorder characterized by the anatomical location of thyroid tissue at the base of the tongue. The initial diagnosis is usually carried out by Magnetic Resonance or Ultrasound. Thyroid scintigraphy is the most sensitive and specific test to confirm the presence of functioning thyroid tissue in a subjected ectopic thyroid lesion. The performance of SPECT/CT tomographic studies allows to improve the anatomical location of the radiotracer in this area, being very useful to establish the differential diagnosis in this type of lesions.
