De la semiología urbana a la simbología en la ciudad consumista = From urban semiology to symbology in the consumerist city

Abstract

ResumenPodría decirse que la relación entre la semiología y la arquitectura es superada en interés por la relación entre la semiología y la ciudad. La arquitectura es el candidato interesante de los pioneros de la lingüística más allá de lo verbal. El cruce de la función, concepto central de la modernidad, y de la capacidad comunicativa del edificio, objetivo estigmatizado por esa misma modernidad, es el que hace interesante la apuesta. Sin embargo, donde el enfoque semiológico va a encontrar mayor desarrollo es en el ámbito urbano, no por razones de escala física, sino porque todo lenguaje, el del planeamiento urbano (de la modernidad) en primer lugar, es susceptible de ser entendido como instrumento de poder. De esta manera, el conflicto función/comunicación saltaría al plano de la sociología urbana y sus reivindicaciones.
