Infections In Relation To Peritoneal Dialysis: An 11-Year Single Center Experience In Vestfold County, Norway

Abstract

Introduction The use of Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) in Norway has been limited compared to other western countries. PD is considered a good alternative to hemodialysis and the method is cost-effective. Infections related to PD are still the most frequent complication and often limits the extent of its use. peritoneal peritonitis 7 Female gender carries higher risk for peritonitis. The overall risk of death is highest during the first years of RRT [12]. More than 50% of deaths in both PD and HD are due to cardio vascular events [6].
