Abstract
: This article analyses the factors associated with caregiving in Brazil based on the 2019 Continuous National Household Survey of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. Using logistic regression models, care rates are estimated based on various economic, demographic and household structure characteristics. One notable finding is that women remain primarily responsible for caregiving in Brazil; specifically, women aged 25–49 account for most of the supply of care. The higher the average household income, the lower the odds ratio of performing caregiving activities. While the presence of a husband and other relatives in the household increases the likelihood of caregiving activities, the presence of children aged under 7 is strongly linked to caregiving activities.
