Abstract
The aim of this article is to outline a first stage of the question on the analysis of the Apologia filosofico-storica (1737) by Vincenzo di Blasi and La morta viva (1737) by Orlando Libertad from the perspective of gender studies, within the context of the Sicilian literary academies of the 18th century. First, a brief introduction is presented in which the first manifestations of what was called "precursor feminism" in Sicily are presented. Later, it is mentioned the work Lu vivu mortu (1734) by Luigi Sarmento, considered the anti-feminist work of Sicilian literature and the reactions that this obtained from those writers who positioned themselves in favor of women. Among them, we find Vincenzo di Blasi and Orlando Libertà who, through their works, perform a (re)interpretation of the biblical texts to answer Sarmento’s misogynistic theories.
