Abstract
Abstract This project evaluated metadata in digital LGBTQ+ community archives in order to determine its quality and how metadata quality effects the sustainability of digital community archives. This project uses a case study approach, using content analysis to evaluate metadata quality of three LGBTQ+ digital archives: Transas City, The History Project, and ONE Archives. Analysis found that the metadata in LGBTQ+ digital community archives is inconsistent and often only meets the minimum requirements for quality metadata. Further, this study concluded that professional guidelines and practices for metadata strip away the personality and uniqueness that is key to community archives success and purpose.
