Papado, monarquía y ciudad: la política religiosa de Alfonso V en la frontera sur de la Corona de Aragón (1416-1458)

Abstract

This study seeks to analyse the religious politics that the king Alfonso V developed on the South of the Crown of Aragon, focusing on the suit for the episcopal autonomy in Orihuela. To this end, we will focus mainly on two elements: on the one hand, the performance of the king regarding the religious instability of the papacy during the 15th century and, on the other hand, the Mediterranean foreign policy of the monarch, and how his differences with the papacy affected the matter of Orihuela. En este estudio se pretende realizar un análisis sobre la política religiosa que desarrolló el rey Alfonso V sobre el territorio meridional de la Corona de Aragón, focalizando en el pleito por la autonomía episcopal de la Gobernación de Orihuela. Para ello nos vamos a centrar fundamentalmente en dos aspectos: por un lado, en la actuación del monarca ante la inestabilidad religiosa del papado durante el siglo XV y por otro, en la política exterior mediterránea del rey y cómo afectaron sus problemas con el pontificado a la cuestión oriolana.
