Legacies from Great-grandparents to Their Descendants

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to analyze the legacies that great-grandparents transmit to children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren from the perspective of each generation. For this purpose, a qualitative research of multiple case studies with five multigenerational families was conducted, totaling 22 participants. As research instrument, a semi-directed interview was used, with a specific script for each generation, in addition to a questionnaire with the socio-demographic data of the participants. The data were analyzed using the thematic content analysis. The results point to the transmission of legacies of order, solidarity and spirituality, which are transmitted through the coexistence between generations.
