ATENDIMENTO AO PACIENTE COM CÂNCER DE BOCA EM TEMPOS DE COVID-19 NA REGIÃO DO SEMIÁRIDO BAIANO: UM ENSAIO CRÍTICO CARE TO THE PATIENT WITH ORAL CANCER IN COVID-19 TIMES IN THE REGION OF THE BAIANO SEMIARID: A CRITICAL ESSAY

Abstract

Objetivo: este ensaio crítico tem como objetivo discutir brevemente as questões relacionadas ao momento de pandemia que estamos vivendo e o atendimento (ou ausência deste) ao paciente com câncer de boca na região do semiárido da Bahia. Ensaio crítico: a covid-19, doença causada pelo coronavírus, tem causado mudanças consideradas drástica nas rotinas dos serviços e sistemas de saúde de todo mundo. Os pacientes com doenças crônicas, a exemplo do câncer de boca, têm encontrado muitas dificuldades para o diagnóstico, tratamento e acompanhamento dessas lesões malignas. Na região do semiárido baiano, não está diferente, pois os serviços que prestam esse tipo de atendimento estão com suas atividades suspensas, sobretudo quando estes serviços estão vinculados às Instituições de Ensino Superior. As consequências desse novo cenário ainda são uma incógnita e não se sabe ao certo qual extensão isso causará na saúde, vida e qualidade de vida destes indivíduos. Com o objetivo de reduzir os impactos negativos da paralisação das atividades, a Teleodontologia, ferramenta tecnológica da informação tem se mostrado eficiente em diversos locais da América Latina, inclusive no Brasil e poderá servir como estratégia de enfretamento na região do semiárido baiano.Objective: this critical essay aims to briefly discuss issues related to the pandemic moment we are experiencing and the care (or absence of it) for patients with oral cancer in the semi-arid region of Bahia. Critical trial: covid19, a disease caused by the coronavirus, has caused changes that are considered drastic in the routines of health services and systems around the world. Patients with chronic diseases, such as oral cancer, have encountered many difficulties in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of these malignant lesions. In the semi-arid region of Bahia, it is no different, since the services that provide this type of service are suspended, especially when these services are linked to Higher Education Institutions. The consequences of this new scenario are still unknown and it is not known for sure what extent this will cause in the health, life and quality of life of these individuals. In order to reduce the negative impacts of the stoppage of activities, Teleodontology, a technological information tool it has been shown to be efficient in several places in Latin America, including Brazil and could serve as a coping strategy in the semi-arid region of Bahia.
