Abstract
Anchastus augusti (Candèze, 1863) is an infrequently encountered elaterid in the United States, previously known only from Cameron County, Texas (Heffern and Brattain 1991). Conoderus pictus (Candèze, 1859) is known in the United States as an introduced species in Florida (Johnson 2018; Mathison 2021). Both species were collected and documented in Webb County, Texas, signifying a range extension for A. augusti and a new state record for C. pictus. With the increased use of citizen science platforms such as iNaturalist, additional new distributional records for both species are also noted. Specimens examined are deposited in the B. A. Mathison Collection (BAMC) and the T. J. Hedlund Collection (TJHC).
