ABSTRACT An engineer’s viewpoint on key areas for further research and industry initiatives to support the increased use of mass timber, particularly Cross Laminated Timber. The paper identifies issues related to project delivery in UK and global construction markets including design for durability, approaches to building design complexity, sustainable supply and the end of life scenarios of buildings, and emerging net zero carbon emissions strategies and the role of forestry for products.
