The results show that the experimental group displayed better levels of academic performance and motivation than the control. Abstract

The primary objective of this research study is to examine the effect on student motivation and academic performance when implementing game-based learning as a pedagogical strategy while introducing the topic of software-defined networks in an engineering program. The use of technology in education helps to improve results in teaching and learning processes at all levels. There are a variety of platforms and support tools that facilitate the work of teachers by creating new options for didactic methodologies. A quasi-experimental quantitative research was conducted. Twenty-six participants are divided into two groups: experimental and control.
