Abstract

The high incidence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction in elderly people make it great concerned within anesthesia research community. Photobiomodulation is proved to be effective and has recently used for brain protection. This review summarizes the mechanism action of postoperative cognitive function disorder, photobiomodulation mechanism and the possibilities of photobiomodulation to protect postoperative cognitive function in elderly people.
