Abstract
ABSTRACT This study into the continued use and relevance of email reference examines 15 years of questions (N = 3026), contextualized by an extensive review of literature, looking at volume and associations between patron affiliation and status, question type, question length, and time received. A subset of data (n = 1066) was used to examine changes over time for the same variables. The study also considered the effect of the presence or absence of other virtual services. Results show that volume and patterns remained remarkably stable throughout the study period, with significant associations noted between several variables.
