Main body of the abstract This study was conducted to examine the extent of the association between MTHFR C677T polymorphism and AL across a comprehensive literature of meta-analysis. Relevant English-language literature was searched and retrieved from PubMed using the terms MTHFR, the C677T polymorphism, and AL. Several parameters have been studied in the assessment of correlation between AL and the MTHFR polymorphism, such as folate intake, ethnicity, age, and sex. Nevertheless, the results are contrasting. Abstract

Background Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is the key enzyme for folate metabolism and also plays a role in DNA biosynthesis and the epigenetic process of DNA methylation.
