The phylogenetic trees for the Mazocraeidea based on the partial 28S rDNA sequences were created using new sequences of Pseudodiscocotyla mikiae n. sp., and Discocotylidae formed a sister group with the species Diclidophoridae, Macrovalvitrematidae, and Plectanocotylidae.
