Abstract
Hispanic Health Care International (HHCI) is the official journal of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN). The journal is an interdisciplinary forum for the dissemination of information for clinical practice, education, global health, research, policy, and technology on issues concerning Hispanic and Latinx populations. HHCI is published by Sage, whose diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mission is to “build bridges to knowledge and enable people from all backgrounds to contribute to and benefit from teaching and research resources that are balanced, grounded, antiracist, and promote a more just society.” Information and resources related to DEI in publishing can be reviewed at: https://group.sagepub.com/dei. HHCI strives to support authors who are underrepresented or are nonnative English speakers. Further, the journal seeks to publish manuscripts that represent diverse and marginalized populations. HHCI has recently accepted/published several articles that represent this commitment. Examples include: “Post-rape experiences of undocumented Mexican women in the U.S.-Mexico border region: a critical ethnography” by Acosta and McEwen; “Street nursing: teaching and improving community health” by Cavazos; “Call for inclusive and diverse suicide prevention strategies among Cuban Americans” by Brenes and “Harnessing the Power of Technology to Improve Sexual and Reproductive Youth Health in Nicaragua” by Alfaro of TeenSmart International. I hope that you will take the time to read these thoughtprovoking manuscripts. HHCI is proud to have a devoted editorial board that is committed to being fair and respectful to our authors, reviewers, and readers. The editorial board strives to improve the journal based on feedback from individuals and groups from all backgrounds. The editorial board believes in open communication and transparency. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge HHCI’s reviewers. HHCI is grateful to the individuals who graciously give their time and expertise to review manuscripts that exemplify the journal’s DEI mission. If you have feedback or ideas for HHCI with regard to DEI, or other topics, please send them to me at: NAHNeditor@ thehispanicnurses.org.
