It differs from other species of <i>Emesis</i> Fabricius, 1807 in having a row of prominent iron-gray crescent-shaped postdiscal spots on both wings above, outlined by paler areas basad and mirrored as merlot-colored spots below, with the largest by the forewing costa, and in its females being bright golden-orange in color. Abstract
Emesis eleanorae Gallardo & Grishin n. sp. is described from western Honduras.
