Comment to the article: Foramen magnum meningioma: successful surgical resection in a 76-year-old Nigerian.

Abstract

Foramen magnum meningiomas are rare and constitute together with upper clival meningioma less than 3 % of all intracranial meningiomas. Usually they originate anterolaterally to the neuroaxis and extend downward to the spinal canal, mostly in women. Such a case was successfully treated by the authors despite the fact the 76-yearold woman was in clinically poor condition and in the absence of advanced technological support. The lesson we can learn from this case can be summarized in the following manner:
