Abstract

he nursing discipline is currentlywitnessing an intriguing para-dox. There is an international shortageof practicing nurses and nursing fac-ulty. At the same time developmentsin nursing, involving advanced practiceroles, graduate level education, and thesignificant knowledge developmentthrough research, isat itsearnest.Need-less to say that such developments varysubstantially among countries, wherein some nursing education is juststarting to move beyond technicaltraining and into university levels tothe most developed countries wheredoctorally prepared nurses are makingbreakthroughs in research and theorydevelopment.Some argue that globalization, withthe significant mobility of nurses, ad-vent of electronic information, and theWorld Wide Web, makes it impera-tive that nurses aim to improve globalhealth through their research.
