Abstract

Mixtures of C5H6 and Fe(CO)5, Cr(CO)6, and Co2(CO)8 were irradiated in the gaseous phase with the P-20 line (944.21 cm-1) of a CW CO2 laser using SF6 as a sensitizer. The reaction products were metal particles and carbon monoxide, and in the C5H6/Fe(CO)5/SF6 mixture the iron dimer (C5H5)2Fe2(CO)4 was isolated.
