Abstract
Population developments in Croatia are examined over the period 1857-1981. The main focus is on trends since World War II. The authors note that from 1948 to 1981 "the population in Croatia grew more slowly than in other republics and provinces of Yugoslavia: it increased by 21.7% (in Yugoslavia by 41.6%) and the participation of Croatia's population in the total population of Yugoslavia decreased from 23.9% to 20.5%." Regional differences within Croatia are also analyzed. (SUMMARY IN ENG AND RUS)
