Abstract

The impact of ethnic changes on the population dynamics of the USSR is analyzed. The primary focus is on the different rates of assimilation of various ethnic groups over time, particularly through marriage. Data are from the Soviet censuses of 1926, 1939, 1959, 1970, and 1979.
