Abstract
R practice and clinical supervision are finally being taken more seriously in nursing and having some impact on continuous nurse education. This article begins with a summary of reflective practice and an overview of models, then continues similarly for clinical supervision. This is followed by identification of some of the dilemmas which may be encountered when promoting clinical supervision. Models of reflective practice and clinical supervision are then considered critically as to their suitability for introduction to the operating department where the author is employed. Appropriate models are identified and their method of introduction defined. Reflective practice and clinical supervision and their impact on the theory practice gap are linked throughout.
