Though still a relatively young concept, contact capitation has been successfully implemented in provider networks around the country. As a payment methodology, it holds the potential of offering broad physician panels, reduced medical management hassles, greater physician control of clinical decision-making and financial stability for practitioners. Contact capitation allows specialists to regain their voice in clinical decisions and offers them greater financial stability in risk sharing arrangements.
