Introducing assessment criteria into patient training.

Abstract

After discussion with other CAPD training centres, it became apparent that there was no formal evaluation of patients' ability to self care with CAPD before discharge. A comprehensive list of skills and knowledge was set out in a formal document. Daily assessment during training revealed that both patients and staff felt empowered with the implementation of this tool.
