Why pathology CPT codes were revised: a look at the new edition.

Abstract

The code descriptors in the 1984 edition of Current Procedural Terminology failed to differentiate the cognitive skills required for different pathology services. The codes have since been reevaluated and revised to represent current practice patterns.
