Using medical knowledge to reduce data errors.

Abstract

Knowledge about the subject of a data base application can be used to reduce errors or data omissions. This article describes a data base system for a gynecologic oncology registry that uses rules incorporating knowledge about gynecologic oncology to minimize errors when a multiple-choice format is used for data entry.
