Abstract

The retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) fulfills important supporting tasks to maintain the visual functions of the sensorineural retina. One major signalling mechanism by which adjacent tissues impinge on the RPE is the adenylyl cyclase (AC)/cAMP pathway.
