The relationship between the levels of t-PSA and age in BPH patients is explained by growing mass of benign hyperplasia causing mechanical load on the intact prostatic tissue. The maximal concentration of t-PSA of 8.7 +/- 1.22 ng/ml was observed in BPH patients at the age of 61-70 years.
