Abstract

Fine-needle aspiration of the thyroid, in experienced hands, is an extremely specific and sensitive tool. The authors provide an in-depth discussion of FNA for both benign and malignant lesions of the thyroid, and they offer a flow chart with diagnostic indicators that also clarifies areas of overlap between lesions.
