Abstract
Periodic changes of the blood gases, acid-base balance and haemoglobin affinity for oxygen were found throughout the oestrous cycle in rats. Oxygen pressure, haemoglobin saturation, pH increased, and oxygen-haemoglobin dissociation curve shifted to the right in the postovulatory phase of the cycle.
