The biochemical parameters of the RBC (until 49 days) were as good or even better as with standard preparations (Hb, 2,3-DPG, ATP, LDH, HBDH, hemolysis, K+). Leukocyte and platelet counts in RBC and FFP (D-RBCP) were well within the range requested by German guidelines. Leukocyte reduction of RBC in RBCP-F was adequate but platelets in FFP exceeded the standard values. Abstract

Objective: Two new protocols for the MCS 3p cellseparator (Haemonetics) for automated collection of blood components were evaluated.
