Computed tomography in opportunistic cerebral toxoplasmosis: report of two cases

Abstract

Computed tomographic (CT) appearances of two cases of opportunistic cerebral toxoplasmosis are described. Both patients were severely immunosuppressed and had malignant neoplasms of the hematopoietic system. The CT findings were of low density areas in the brain and in one case there was faint enhancement after contrast injection. Differential diagnosis is discussed and importance of early diagnosis is emphasized.
