Parathyroid adenomas: Identified by ct scan

Abstract

Parathyroid adenomas in the neck and mediastinum can be identified by computed tomography. Case material has been presented to document this and to further illustrate the usefulness of CT selected problem patients. CT is recommended for precise localization of these adenomas in individuals who are greater operative risks than normal and in patients who have recurrence of disease following subtotal parathyroidectomy.
