Transition to fatherhood: literature review.

Abstract

A literature review of the impact of fatherhood on new fathers is presented. Stress factors in the prospective father's changing role are discussed. Research is reviewed that examines past and present‐day fathering behaviors. Implications are given for changing the practice of health care professionals, and further research is encouraged.
