Abstract

The STA operation is a modified subtalar arthroereisis that uses an endoprosthesis manufactured from ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene. It is fashioned into the shape of a small peg and implanted into the dorsal surface of the calcaneus. Its purpose is to eliminate abnormal pronation, correct heel valgus, and produce an increase of the medial longitudinal arch.
