Abstract
Those responsible for nursing inservice education should consider developing verbal as well as physical skills of all levels of nursing personnel who must deal frequently with a patient's anger. As evidenced by this study, 65% of the responses given by nursing assistants before classroom instruction would more than likely intensify the anger rather than resolve it. However, following instruction, nursing assistants were able to recognize and choose significantly more therapeutic responses to anger.
