Abstract
A method is proposed by which it is possible to decrease a number of early and late inflaramatory complications after operations of chronic otitis media. This method lies on the one hand in the operation proceeding which leaves the posterior canal wall intact (a modification of Jansen’s posterior tympanotomy) and on the other hand in applying Hydron as antibiotic carrier. The evaluation of clinical results in the group of the sick people having been operated upon the basis of the method followed-up and their comparison to the control group demonstrated the advantage of the proceeding proposed as far as regards the prevention of the early and late inflammatory complications. From the functional point of view, no significant difference between the post-operative profits of both groups followed-up was found.
