On the use of dreams as a means of diagnosis of brain-injured patients.

Abstract

In our psychotherapeutic work with brain injured patients it has become apparent that there exists a divergence between the two modes of expression with which the patient reflects his inner truth. In contrast to the patient's conscious self-perception, which is usually distorted by his cognitive deficits and by his defense mechanisms, the dream--the unconscious, uncovers another reality. The present paper cites a repeated pattern of initial dreams and an attempt is made to understand its diagnostic and prognostic meaning.
