Abstract
An actuator rod (control device) is examined for the stability coefficient under a given load. It was found that commonly known calculation methods do not allow for the geometric features of the rod to be fully taken into account. To take into account the geometric features of the rod, a numerical experiment was carried out in the Compass APM FEM software environment. The numerical experiments conducted allow us to draw the following conclusions. When the ratio of the diameters of the inner hole to the diameter of the rod is 85%, as well as 71%, and when the ratio of the lengths of the inner hole to the length of the rod is from 100 to 31%, the presence of the inner hole greatly affects the safety factor, which varies in the range from 0.54 to 1.6. When the diameter ratio decreases, the length of the inner hole has virtually no effect on the safety factor, but in the range of length ratios from 100 to 50%, the safety factor is less than the recommended 1.8.

Technical Physics Letters is a companion journal to Technical Physics and offers rapid publication of developments in theoretical and experimental physics with potential technological applications. Recent emphasis has included many papers on gas lasers and on lasing in semiconductors, as well as many reports on high Tc superconductivity. The excellent coverage of plasma physics seen in the parent journal, Technical Physics, is also present here with quick communication of developments in theoretical and experimental work in all fields with probable technical applications. Topics covered are basic and applied physics; plasma physics; solid state physics; physical electronics; accelerators; microwave electron devices; holography.
