Abstract
Electro-hydraulic actuator systems (EHASs) are widely used in industrial automation. Existing EHAS controllers mainly improve transient and steady-state performance, but guaranteeing tracking-error convergence within a designer-specified time remains challenging under parameter uncertainties and unknown external loads. To address this problem, a predefined-time adaptive neural backstepping controller is developed. The parameter uncertainties are reformulated as two lumped nonlinear terms and compensated using radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs), while twice continuously differentiable (\(C^2\)) segmented functions regularize the low-order fractional-power terms to avoid singularities in the virtual controllers. Rigorous theoretical analysis establishes practical predefined-time stability: the tracking error and adaptive-parameter estimation errors converge to adjustable neighborhoods of zero within a designer-specified time. Simulation and comparative experimental results validate the method and demonstrate improved tracking accuracy over finite-time and conventional backstepping controllers.

With a focus on research in artificial intelligence and neural networks, this journal addresses issues involving solutions of real-life manufacturing, defense, management, government and industrial problems which are too complex to be solved through conventional approaches and require the simulation of intelligent thought processes, heuristics, applications of knowledge, and distributed and parallel processing. The integration of these multiple approaches in solving complex problems is of particular importance.
The journal presents new and original research and technological developments, addressing real and complex issues applicable to difficult problems. It provides a medium for exchanging scientific research and technological achievements accomplished by the international community.
