Abstract
Various approaches to reducing heat energy consumption during the separation of liquid mixtures by distillation are considered. The theory of internal energy conservation in the distillation process is presented. It is shown that the specific heat consumption depends only on the reflux ratio and not on the vapor ratio. The theory of internal energy conservation confirms the necessity of intermediate pump-around reflux in complex crude oil distillation columns.
