Abstract
The standard enthalpy of formation of the Pb2+ ion in aqueous solution was refined by measuring the enthalpy of solution of Pb(NO3)2(cr) in water and the enthalpies of interaction of Pb(NO3)2(cr) with an excess of aqueous potassium iodide and of Zn(cr, dust) with an excess of lead nitrate solution. The standard enthalpy of formation of the lead ion was determined by two independent methods.
